\u0110\u1eaeK L\u1eaeK\u00a0\u2014 The Daklak September 2nd Import-Export Company Limited\u00a0(Simexco\u00a0Daklak)\u00a0is a pioneer\u00a0in developing\u00a0coffee growing zones following the\u00a0EU Deforestation Regulation\u00a0(EUDR).<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0EUDR requires\u00a0to\u00a0ensure\u00a0no deforestation or degradation, have\u00a0spatial data using multi-temporal satellite images, and ensure\u00a0the legality and traceability of product origin from production, exploitation, harvesting to transportation, processing\u00a0and export.<\/span><\/p>\n

After 10 months of implementation, Simexco\u00a0Daklak\u00a0had become a pioneer in building coffee production zones that secure the world’s first 4C-certified EUDR certification,\u00a0Nguy\u1ec5n Ti\u1ebfn D\u0169ng from Simexco\u00a0Daklak\u00a0said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He added that his firm\u00a0was cooperating with the IDH Sustainable Trade Initiative to update data and implement activities to have six production zones meeting the EUDR in Bu\u00f4n Ma Thu\u1ed9t\u00a0City, Bu\u00f4n H\u1ed3 Township, and Kr\u00f4ng N\u0103ng, C\u01b0 M\u2019gar, C\u01b0 Kuin and Kr\u00f4ng Ana, with a total of nearly 82,000 farming households producing 300,000 tonnes of coffee\u00a0on\u00a0106,000ha.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On this occasion, B\u1ea1ch Thanh Tu\u1ea5n, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee and Cocoa Association, handed over two certificates from the 4C (Common Code for the Coffee Community), to Simexco\u00a0Daklak for two growing zones that meet the\u00a0EUDR\u00a0standards. These two zones cover nearly 8,000 farmers, 9,500 hectares, and an output of over 35,000 tonnes.<\/span><\/p>\n

4C is an independent, stakeholder-driven, internationally recognised sustainability standard for the entire coffee sector, aiming at anchoring sustainability in coffee supply chains.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the event, eight units signed a memorandum of understanding on bringing EUDR-qualified coffee products to import businesses at European ports.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Vi\u1ec7t Nam\u00a0shipped 1.61 million tonnes of coffee abroad in 2023, earning US$4.18 billion, down 9.6 per cent\u00a0in volume but up 3.1\u00a0per cent\u00a0in value year-on-year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The average\u00a0coffee\u00a0export price in 2023 was $2,834 per tonne, an increase of 14.1 per cent\u00a0compared with the previous year.\u00a0\u2014 VNS<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
